Sustain Your Energy Level

I recently had a health challenge which led to depletion in my energy level. This made me seek medical help only to discover some very important but always neglected healthy habits. All matter is made up of energy. Energy is everything and it flows to make things happen. Work will always put a demand on you to tap into your natural energy and your most authentic self. While p ositive energy is all you need to sustain your performance in the work place; there is need to make conscious effort to sustain your required energy level. All of us will still experience fatigue every now and then irrespective of how healthy we are. There are many causes of this fatigue which can deplete your energy, but there are also loads of ways to ensure that you regain the lost energy. Some methods have quick effects on the body while others may take time for the average person to feel energized. Some of the ways to sustain your energy level are: 1.       Understand your b...

Let's Keep Talking

The growing change to a knowledge driven workforce in our times has made the command- and- control approach to managing people a less viable form of communication. There is therefore now an increasing need for communication in the workplace to become more dynamic, sophisticated and conversational. As a leader in your team, you must consciously engage with colleagues in a way that resembles an ordinary person-to-person conversation more than it does a series of commands from on high. True and lasting leadership is not really position-oriented but driven by influence. The ability to command followership without coercion is leadership. By engaging in communication exchanges, organizations can avail themselves the benefit of functioning like small entities no matter how large they grow to become. By talking with colleagues, rather than simply issuing orders, leaders can retain or recapture operational flexibility, high levels of employee engagement and tight strategic alignment. ...

Multiply Your Results with Teamwork

Teams can simply do more than an individual and the only way to perform at your peak is to be part of a team. If you want to achieve something really big, something of value, then do it as part of a team. One is just too small a number to achieve greatness. Whatever your vision or desire, teamwork makes that dream work. It doesn’t matter how talented you may be, you still have gaps. Whether simple or complex, there are things you don’t just do well. It is therefore wise to partner with others who have strength in your weak areas. It’s always a rewarding experience when we work together with our others toward a common goal. We often get better results from less work. Teams involve more people, more resources, more ideas and more energy than an individual possesses and when we learn to work as teams in our workstreams, we maximize our leader’s potentials and minimize his or her weaknesses because everyone brings multiple perspectives to bear on how to meet a need or reach ...

Honesty Pays!

Honesty is an absolutely essential ingredient of character. If we live by the values of honesty and accept our challenges as what they really are, we can go far down the road of achievement. When we act dishonestly, we cheat ourselves. If we are dishonest, we cannot hide it for too long, it will show up like a smoke. No matter your talents and contributions to the organization, your efforts can still be destroyed by dishonesty. Are you honest with the company’s paid hours of work? How honest are you with the company’s resources that are committed into your hands? You can be sure that dishonest people always get treated dishonestly. Honest thinkers are large-minded while dishonest thinkers are small-minded. Dishonest people are so concerned about the gains of the moment that their vision of a great legacy for tomorrow becomes blurred. An honest workforce will always build legacy institution that last for so long but profits made by a dishonest workforce are soon eaten up by...

Ask For Help When It Matters

High performing people strongly believe that asking for help is a sign of weakness. They become much more dependent on themselves. That situation prevents good ideas from getting to them and also creates very tiring and anxious environment for them. Whether successful or not, a person should always seek help when it is necessary. Many high performers would rather do the wrong things well than do the right thing poorly. How sad? The problem is that high achievers are aiming for doing instead of becoming. Do you think that someone who is constantly achieving only to get good results is learning in the process? I do not think so. But if your purpose is to grow and become better in the process, you will do the right thing poorly first and with practice, you will do it very well. I believe our own environment does not punish initiatives- no matter the outcome! We need to accept our mistakes before becoming a master at anything. It’s not about winning and losing, it’s about winn...
