Unmask Yourself

Are you really comfortable to take one big risk of revealing parts of yourself that you would have loved to share with others but prefer to bury in the interest of job security?   Do you find it easier to fit in rather than stand out? How authentic are you? If you were to rate your originality on a scale of 1-10, where would you be? Many employees across different organizations really do wear masks because they don’t really think their company value their uniqueness and they are afraid that they’ll get biased treatment once they begin to show their creative true colours. Unfortunately, in many cases they are right but I don’t seem to think that this should become everyone’s reality. You cannot bury who you really are if you want to truly impress other people as a professional. Do not underestimate the power of being yourself. Choose to be original. The key to standing out, impressing and inspiring others at work and as a professional lies in your ability to bring your ...

Credibility, an Exchange for Lasting Synergy and Leverage

I was once a student of history and philosophy of science and there used to be two philosophical logics that caught my interest so well...they were Modus Ponens & Modus Tollens. Modus Ponens says "If P implies Q, given P therefore we can conclude Q. Modus Tollens says "If P implies Q; if not Q we can therefore conclude it's not P. This looks so familiar to the teachings of the holy book which says "One will chase a Thousand and Two will chase Ten Thousand". Yes that's where I am going! Synergy and Leverage! If 1= 1000 and 2 = 10,000; therefore anytime 2people do not come together, they already lost 9,000 which is  over 80% of what was possible. Two are better than one because they will always have a great reward for their labour. What you can't do alone, try to look for patnerships to get it done.Synergy has always been the creation of a whole that is greater than the sum of its parts. It is the cooperative interaction among groups or people that cr...

Fail Again, Fail Better

Something good always come out of failure. I currently work in a company where our sun-rising product is a result of a failed business bid. It was the past failures and disappointments during attempts to take another failed product to market that created the new Remita product that everyone now enjoys. Every wrong attempt discarded is an opportunity to move forward. Failure is the tuition we pay in order to succeed and those who are not ready to pay the fees definitely will not qualify to write the examination that is designed to take them to the next level of success. In order to succeed, your desire for success must be greater than your fear of failures. Last Sunday, I watched the Super Eagles muscle out the Elephants of Cote d’ivoire that is revered as the “golden generation of African football” in the ongoing African Cup of Nations Football tournament to the amazement of all the cynics. Many times, the fear of failure could even be the tonic we need to pursue our dreams vi...
