Always Feel Good About Yourself

All other things being equal, great service standards is a key point of differentiation from competitors. The service you provide is one way you can truly differentiate yourself on your desk or in the market place. When you go beyond what is realistically expected of you to surprise and deliver value to your customers, you are on your way to turning them into enthusiastic and loyal base of highly satisfied referrals.
The best way to attract and keep clients is to create a service experience that is second to none. Service more than anything else is an art that is a component of a good attitude, skill and professionalism. When we create an exceptional service experience, our business becomes more profitable, and infinitely more referable.
In the next couple of weeks, we shall be talking about some principles of exceptional service and the first in this series is the need to always feel good about yourself.

Feeling good about yourself creates a positive attitude and builds your self-confidence. It is natural that there will be one or two occasions where you’ll experience negative feelings about situations and people while carrying out your duties but you will always find it easy to get past such occurrences when you feel good about yourself.
A good way to start will be to re-brand your identity. You have to start trusting yourself and what you are capable of doing. Believe in your inner resources, no matter what, and you'll grow from the experience. One way is to begin to make a list of your accomplishments that you feel proud about. Give yourself a compliment when you are doing your job well. Accept compliments from others gracefully when you think you deserve it. Find ways to compliment others too. Just say something nice. Make someone’s day with your words, and it will make yours. Instead of focusing on the shortfalls in your life, bring to mind things that make you special. Pride yourself on your greatest achievements instead of highlighting flaws.
One of the worst things we can do from a confidence standpoint is compare ourselves to others, especially when looking at what they have that we do not have. Look around you. You have more than most. You have many good things. Think of yourself as someone who is unique with talents and gifts that you can share with your friends and family. Focus on your full cup. Don’t compare yourself to the 1% of the population (or less) that might have more or look better or seem smarter. Instead of comparing yourself, look deep inside and see what you need to improve. Don’t improve upon these things to please others, but to grow as a person.
All of us have fears.  The few successful people you see around are those who have overcome their fears. You actually have the capacity to become better when you are a little scared. Overcoming your fears makes you stronger. Don’t hide behind your fears or false expectations of yourself. Reveal yourself. Be real. A real person is much more attractive. Enjoy the fun of failure and even when your effort fails, still feel good about it that you gave it your best shot. Feel good about yourself, no matter what life brings. Know that each time you wake up you have another chance to make things better. Don't waste it.
Be friends with life. Wear nice, clean clothes that make you feel good. Reflect a put-together, attractive person on the outside and you may begin to feel it on the inside. Have a new hairstyle or haircut, brush your teeth, smell nice, have clean nails, always look good and smell good. When you look your best, you see yourself differently. Clear your desk. It clears your brain. It helps you think and opens the creative channels. Take care of your body and mind. Remember to eat your vegetables, take your vitamins and exercise (even if for just 15 minutes a day). Take care of your skin. Pamper yourself every once in awhile. Get a massage. Drink plenty of water and get at least 7 hours of sleep each night. This simple routine will help you to keep looking good.
When you feel good about yourself, it shows in your service when you meet any customer.
You will reach your zenith!
